My Story

Hi, I’m Daryl James, aka DAZZLER THE WELDER.

I’ve been doing full time metal craft fabrication since September 2018 but I have been hobby welding for well over 15yrs.

It started for me, believe it or not, when I owned a 1965 series 2a landrover back in around 2005. My first bill from my local garage was for welding work carried out and came to over £800. The advice given to me if I was going to own such a vehicle was to learn to weld. That’s exactly what I did.

I was told the best way to learn to weld is to weld. I bought a mig welder, got a load of scrap and welded things together. I then made all the railings around my garden, gates for myself, gates for friends and of course continuous welding on my landrover. I then went to college to learn agricultural welding, which is where I did Arc, gas and of course mig welding.

Years later I discovered my passion for making things that I didn’t need to make but I wanted to make. I started watching you tube videos for inspiration and found the path of crafts and items that are one offs. They say that “BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER” and what one person see’s isn’t necessarily what another sees. With that in mind I set out only to make one off items for people. I wanted to bring to life your ideas, my ideas and generally things that you can’t buy anywhere else. Things that you may need but you can’t find anywhere, whether it be a shelf of a certain size or design or as featured on this site a fire place with only significant meaning to the owner. What ever it is rest assured whatever I make for you I won’t replicate for someone else. The stools on here for example were made for my customers and I won’t make the same style for you. If they want more adding to their collection then that’s fine but they know that their stools are their stools and no-one will ever have the same.

I am not CE registered, which means I don’t make things for construction, I don’t make fire escapes, safety railings or walkways. I’m just a one man band working from my modest workshop making things that I love making for those who appreciate it.

I sell items that I make through a small craft shop in Porthmadog in north Wales called “CRAFTS NORTH WALES”.
