“THREE PEAKS YACHT RACE” TROPHY

The Three Peaks Yacht Race has been going for well over forty years now, with last year being the reintroduction of the MULTI HULL category. I was commissioned to make a trophy for this category. Also my first time making a trophy and a boat. There wasn’t really an idea for this, I just again started cutting and welding and the idea developed along the way. I was asked if the boat could somehow be mounted onto a plinth so that the winners of this category could be added each year. I came up with the idea of the boat being on the crest of a wave. All welds were ground away on the back and sides so the names could be added where as the front was left rough and burnt coloured to make the front of the wave look like the wave was forming in rough seas.
